Psyche et l'amour, 1817 by Baron Francois Gerard, Louvre, Paris.
A popular subject throughout the 19th century, Gerard version of the story of Cupid and Psyche almost portrays the figures as secondary to the outdoor temple and landscape setting. The vibrancy of the bright colors also serve to draw our attention from the couple.

It is striking that half the bed is red and the other white, the symbolism of color is not lost either!
The color symbolism contrasts interestingly with the desexing of the figures!
The red and white colors are a symbol of passion and love. Interesting!
The painting you describe indeed hangs at the louvre however it is not by Francois Gerard, this painting is by Francois Edouard Picot... Francois Gerard has indeed a painting titled psyche et l'amour which also hangs at the louvre but it not the painting you have displayed on your blog.
