Full Moon

The Harvest Moon, c. 1894 -96 by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Glasgow School of Art

My favorite artist. He was also an amazing architect. He was so far ahead of his time and although he was a contemporary of the Art & Crafts and Art Nouveau movements, his take on the aesthetic was really unique.

In what year was this done Martha? It is truly unique if done in the early 1900's. And his palette is great.

Even a little bit earlier CRM was decades ahead of his time.

The colours in this piece work well with the back ground, as well as the focal point. Calming almost.

Mackintosh has been my favorite architect for years. Thanks for posting this painting--I'm not sure I've ever seen this one!

Thank you, Martha for the daily inspiration! I was delighted to find O'Keeffe's skyscraper and then this! I was not familiar with CRM nor the jazz piece. Keep it up ; ) ~Michelle
