Understatement of the day
Comes from Khaled Batarfi
Now and then, I have off-the-record conversations with Arab leaders of various levels in the public and private sectors. Most are unelected. Most are unelected. There must be some thriving democracies in the Middle East he's missing in just looking at certain states. Could it be a country that rhymes with "Fisrael"? Must have been an oversight not to think of them. One wouldn't want to put a wretched police state that has "mostly" unelected officials up against an actual democracy, as the pretence of freedom of thought in said police state would be hard to cover for at that point.
